This is the circuit of a cell phone charger at home. in this project i have used a full wave rectifier. the apparatus includes 1. a CENTER-TAPPED step down transformer(6V) 2. two diodes IN4007 3. a 1000uF capacitor 4. a resistor o.5k or 1k 5. connecting wires 6. bread board to practice or a pcb to solder 7. cell phone charger pin (from junk or any broken part CONNECT the circuit as shown in the link en.wikipedia.org just connect the capacitor in parallel with the resistor from where the output is drawn...
